1. Policy Statement
ACLAS Global International Education Group is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all learners, staff, and visitors. This commitment extends to both the Centre's physical premises and its online learning environment.
2. Responsibilities
Centre Director
The Centre Director holds overall responsibility for health and safety, including ensuring that adequate resources are available and that this policy is implemented and reviewed.
All Staff
Every staff member is responsible for:
- Taking reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others
- Reporting hazards, incidents, and near-misses promptly to the Centre Director
- Following the Centre's health and safety procedures
- Completing any health and safety training provided
Learners
Learners are expected to:
- Follow any health and safety instructions provided
- Report concerns to their Tutor or the Centre Director
- Conduct themselves in a way that does not endanger themselves or others
3. Physical Premises
The Centre's principal office is located at 8735 Dunwoody Place, Suite R, Atlanta, GA 30350, USA.
- A fire risk assessment is conducted and reviewed annually.
- Emergency exits are clearly marked and kept unobstructed.
- Adequate first-aid supplies are maintained on the premises.
- The premises comply with applicable Fulton County and Georgia State building and safety codes.
- A record of any incidents or accidents occurring on the premises is maintained.
4. Online Learning Environment
The Centre delivers the majority of its programmes online. Health and safety in this context includes:
- Providing guidance to learners on setting up an ergonomic study space
- Encouraging regular breaks during extended screen use
- Ensuring the Moodle LMS and all online platforms are secure and free from harmful content
- Protecting learner data in accordance with the Data Protection and GDPR Policy
- Providing clear reporting routes if a learner encounters inappropriate content or behaviour online
5. Risk Assessment
The Centre conducts and documents risk assessments for:
- Physical office premises and any face-to-face activities
- Online delivery and data security
- Any off-site activities organised by the Centre
Risk assessments are reviewed annually and whenever there is a significant change in operations or facilities.
6. Incident Reporting
1. All accidents, incidents, and near-misses are reported to the Centre Director immediately.
2. The incident is recorded in the Centre's Incident Log, including date, time, people involved, description, and actions taken.
3. Serious incidents are investigated to identify root causes and preventive measures.
4. Where legally required, incidents are reported to the relevant authorities.
7. Training and Communication
- Health and safety information is included in staff and learner induction.
- Any staff member with specific safety responsibilities receives appropriate training.
- This policy is communicated to all staff and is available to learners on the Moodle platform.
8. Policy Review
This policy is reviewed annually and following any significant incident.
